Java Developer - Spring Boot, Microservices & Kafka

Overview

We are looking for a skilled Java Developer with expertise in Spring Boot, Microservices, and Kafka to join our team at Tata Consultancy Services in Kochi. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in backend development using Java 8+, RESTful services, and microservices architecture.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust Java applications using Spring Boot and Microservices principles.
• Implement REST APIs with a strong foundation in OOP concepts and exception handling.
• Develop and optimize data structures and algorithms ensuring multi-threading and concurrency safety.
• Utilize circuit breakers and error handling mechanisms to maintain application resilience.
• Build synchronous and asynchronous microservice communication channels.
• Work extensively with Spring Boot REST controllers, security, transaction management, dependency injection, annotations, configurations, and starter packages.
• Integrate and manage messaging with Kafka and JMS.
• Use version control tools like Git and participate in CI/CD pipelines.

Desired Experience & Skills

• Proficient in Core Java, System Design, and Java 8 or above.
• Experience working as a Developer or Technical Lead, preferably leading teams of 8 or more.
• Hands-on experience with databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks like JUnit.
• Exposure to Linux/Unix development environments is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and usage of tools like Swagger and Postman.
• Experience or interest in AI integrations (for example, Co-pilot or Claude) is a plus.
