Position Overview
Join our team as a Full-Time Assistant Store Manager in St Joseph, MO, where you will assist in overseeing daily store operations, driving store performance, managing team schedules, and fostering employee development through training initiatives.
Work Hours and Compensation
The role entails approximately 38 hours per week with a starting hourly wage of $25.50, increasing to $26.50 per hour in the second year.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the direct leader in formulating and executing plans to enhance operational outcomes.
- Define and communicate job roles and performance standards to team members, ensuring clarity and achievement of goals.
- Identify and promote training opportunities for staff to improve their skills and effectiveness.
- Understand and embody the company’s strategy and core values to build teamwork and employee engagement.
- Monitor local market competition and advise leadership on necessary adjustments to maintain competitiveness.
- Provide feedback on product selection, recommending additions or discontinuations as needed.
- Participate in recruitment and interviewing processes for store personnel.
- Effectively communicate team updates, milestones, and concerns.
- Ensure compliance with inventory protocols, product handling, and cash controls to minimize losses.
- Handle customer operational issues in the absence of the direct leader.
- Identify and correct safety hazards, maintain ergonomic standards, and ensure equipment is functional.
- Maintain store cleanliness and signage standards consistently.
- Assist with stock level maintenance via product ordering.
- Arrange merchandise effectively to maximize sales.
- Ensure product quality, freshness, and accurate signage.
- Help manage store payroll, budget adherence, inventory counts, and new employee training.
- Supervise daily team activities, escalating issues when necessary.
- Ensure timely and efficient completion of assigned tasks by direct reports for outstanding customer service.
- Adhere strictly to company policies, maintaining confidentiality and security of data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stock merchandise including lifting weights up to 45 pounds and placing products on various shelving heights.
- Regular capability to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk throughout the store.
- Perform all duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

- Organize and multitask professionally, following instructions and paying attention to detail.
- Meet applicable state and local requirements for selling alcoholic beverages.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or an equivalent credential is preferred.
- At least three years of progressive retail experience.
- A blend of relevant education and work experience providing comparable knowledge.
- Previous management experience is preferred.
