About the Role
Burns Construction & Civil Engineering Ltd, based in the west of Ireland, is seeking a Construction Planner / Programmer to manage and update construction schedules for ongoing projects in Galway. The role involves using Microsoft Project or similar software to ensure projects stay on track by working closely with project managers, site teams, and design consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules for tenders and live projects using Microsoft Project or comparable planning tools.
- Sequence construction tasks, allocate resources efficiently, and identify critical path activities.
- Create and update short-term look-ahead schedules in collaboration with site management teams.
- Monitor project progress against planned schedules and report on any delays, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with project managers, site personnel, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure schedule accuracy.
- Generate programme reports and updates for internal use and client reviews.
- Assist in preparing tender schedules for upcoming project bids.
- Coordinate programme data integration with Procore when applicable.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in developing and managing construction programmes, preferably using Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or Asta Powerproject.
- Sound knowledge of construction sequencing, critical path method, and resource planning.
- Background in construction, civil engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field.
- Excellent attention to detail coupled with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with site teams, subcontractors, and design consultants.
- Familiarity with Procore is considered an advantage.
