Job Overview

The Assistant Store Manager plays a key role in coaching and developing store teams to deliver exceptional customer service and help pet owners select the best nutrition and solutions for their pets. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure staff consistently meet customer service standards and maintain positive community relationships, including partnerships with organizations such as the Humane Society.
  • Lead employee management activities such as recruiting, scheduling, training, task delegation, supervision, and coaching.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate operational standards and procedures across all staff members.
  • Oversee administrative tasks including order coordination, inventory management, completion of store and safety audits, minor store repairs, and handling corporate paperwork.
  • Drive team efforts toward meeting business targets and store performance goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support store operations.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for learning and advancing within the pet care industry.
  • An outgoing, friendly demeanor combined with strong customer service skills.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, adhering to attendance expectations.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the store.
  • Ability to observe and coach team members on sales techniques and customer service excellence.
  • Skills in managing inter-team conflicts and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Physical ability to repeatedly lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience within the pet industry is considered a plus.
