About the Team
The Cloud Performance Engineering team is responsible for developing the cloud-native ClickHouse Cloud Platform, which aims to revolutionize the OLAP domain. They seek accomplished performance engineers experienced in distributed database performance limits, performance benchmarking, test automation, system engineering, performance analysis, and capacity management. This role offers a unique chance to influence a high-performance, limitless scale, serverless ClickHouse Cloud architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct benchmarking of system and database performance, including capacity planning and optimization.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and analyze application and server logs to resolve errors efficiently.
- Advise on configuration adjustments to eliminate performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate closely with ClickHouse's core development, cloud, and security teams to enhance performance of ClickHouse Cloud.
- Plan and implement Chaos Engineering initiatives across engineering teams according to internal priorities.
- Develop and manage tools to perform systematic chaos experiments and evaluate their impact.
- Gain deep insights into the behavior of large-scale distributed systems.
- Identify and study issues related to software resilience, operations, and delivery.
- Extend backend capabilities to incorporate Chaos Engineering methodologies.
- Monitor live systems and prioritize innovative disruption methods.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 6 years professional experience in software development focused on scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, C/C++, Java, or comparable languages.
- Strong background in concurrency, multithreading, and distributed system architecture deployment.
- Experience building cloud infrastructure services, ideally using Kubernetes.
- Proven leadership in delivering extensive technical projects alongside senior engineers.
- Expert knowledge of public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure), especially their infrastructure services like EC2.
- Exceptional communication skills and effectiveness in collaborative team environments.
- Strong analytical abilities coupled with hands-on production debugging expertise.
- Passion for optimizing efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance.
- Ability to succeed in fast-paced settings while partnering with business units to drive organizational goals.
- High sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability.
