Role Overview

Situated at the North Ryde Support Office and reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role as a Payroll Officer offers an exciting chance to contribute during a dynamic period of growth and transformation. The successful candidate will be a vital member of the People Tech team, responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery for over 7,000 employees paid on both weekly and fortnightly schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer payroll accurately and promptly across the group.
  • Manage the end-to-end processing of weekly and fortnightly payroll cycles to ensure timely and correct employee payments.
  • Maintain precise payroll, personnel, and time-and-attendance records, including onboarding, employee data updates, and related data transfers.
  • Support payroll functions such as superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG, workers compensation, and award compliance.
  • Generate accurate reports to aid business decision-making.
  • Develop and enhance payroll procedures consistent with current legislation and organizational needs.
  • Communicate professionally with teams across stores, clinics, support offices, and senior leadership.
  • Address payroll inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Collaborate with the payroll team and wider business units to improve payroll processes and service quality.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to foster continuous enhancement.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Payroll Officer who excels in a complex and fast-moving environment. They are a cooperative team player, detail-oriented, proactive, and dedicated to supporting teams that ultimately serve customers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in handling large-volume payrolls within fast-paced settings.
  • Familiarity with payroll platforms such as SAP EC Payroll, and time-and-attendance systems like UKG.
  • Experience working in or supporting multiple sites.
  • Ability to interpret and apply award conditions is highly valued.
  • Strong organizational skills with precision and capacity to manage competing deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a warm and approachable demeanor.
