Position Summary
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for shelving merchandise, organizing the sales floor to provide a safe and pleasant shopping environment, and offering customer support as needed. Associates in this role often operate retractable or fork lift trucks as well as order picker trucks to retrieve and place stock on shelves. The associate prepares assigned orders carefully, ensuring products remain undamaged, labels them accurately, and stores them in designated areas.
Primary Duties
- Handle merchandise with care and precision.
- Maintain stock levels at 100% by shelving merchandise appropriately.
- Unload pallets and stock merchandise according to instructions.
- Merchandise new items and promotions effectively.
- Keep aisles clean, orderly, safe, and merchandise accessible and attractive.
- Organize upper shelves by aligning merchandise properly.
- Coordinate with handling team members to ensure correct product placement.
Customer Service Responsibilities
- Follow Home Depot's ‘Move to Action’ customer service model by greeting, engaging, and thanking customers.
- Use open-ended questions to understand customers’ project needs and expertise level.
Safety and Integrity Practices
- Safely move merchandise between temporary storage and upper shelves using the appropriate equipment.
- Ensure customers can navigate aisles freely and safely.
- Adhere to all safety and loss prevention policies and procedures.

Reporting
Reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist; lift, push, pull, and move items.
- Capable of climbing ladders up to 3.5 to 5 meters (12 to 16 feet) to retrieve or store merchandise.
Work Conditions
- Variable scheduling including night shifts, evenings, and weekends.
- Warehouse may be dusty and noisy.
- Operation of forklifts emitting gas fumes.
- Doors often open, causing drafts and temperature fluctuations indoors.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years experience in retail or distribution is preferred but not mandatory.
Additional Requirements
- Experience operating retractable/forklift trucks and order pickers is an advantage.
