Gold Assayer

Role Overview

Gold Trade Ltd Ghana is recruiting a skilled and reliable Gold Assayer and Buying Station Officer to join its expanding operations in Anyinem, Eastern Region. This position oversees the complete cycle of gold buying and assaying, starting from receipt and weighing of gold, through testing, valuation, documentation, and preparation for delivery. The role demands strong compliance, operational expertise, and stringent security management.

Key Duties

• Receive gold from miners and suppliers; verify, weigh, and document the transactions precisely.
• Conduct and facilitate gold assay procedures using approved methodologies, including XRF testing where applicable.
• Prepare samples properly to ensure representativeness and reliability of assay results.
• Evaluate gold purity and understand how assay outcomes impact purchase economics.
• Detect any irregularities such as falsification or contamination during gold assessment and weighing.
• Compute purchase values utilizing authorized pricing frameworks and assay data.
• Maintain thorough records of weights, assay data, supplier details, and transaction values.
• Manage and uphold accurate Know Your Customer (KYC) documents for suppliers and clients.
• Ensure all transactions are recorded appropriately and relevant documentation or invoices are prepared compliant with regulations.
• Assist in securing the storage and transport logistics of gold to the designated delivery or purchasing points.
• Uphold confidentiality regarding gold transactions, supplier data, and operational processes.
• Support security measures including monitoring CCTV systems and escalate any risks related to operations, transactions, or security promptly.
• Assist in the setup and daily operation of gold melting/smelting facilities and sample-preparation workflows.
• Coordinate activities with suppliers, sourcing agents, finance, and management teams to ensure smooth processing of transactions.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualification of HND, Diploma, or Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Geology, Mining, Mineral Processing, Assaying, or related fields.
• Practical exposure to gold buying, assaying, or mineral/mining operations.
• Experience in gold weighing, purity appraisal, and valuation practices.
• Working knowledge of XRF testing and sample preparation techniques is advantageous.
• Understanding of gold buying station operations and compliance with GoldBod regulations is preferred.
• Experience handling KYC processes, managing transaction records, and documenting accurately.
• Strong numerical ability, analytical thinking, keen attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven integrity and capacity to operate responsibly in a security-sensitive environment involving high-value assets.
• Ready availability to commence employment immediately.
