Job description
Company Overview
With 25 years of experience, inovex supports companies across Germany with approximately 500 IT specialists to digitalize and make their core businesses more agile from eight locations nationwide. Within the IT Engineering & Operations team, we design and build new, outstanding IT infrastructures and continuously enhance existing ones through innovative solutions.
We value diversity and individuality at inovex and welcome those who can add to our vibrant team.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and operate Kubernetes platforms for enterprise clients that host applications by other teams, managing multi-tenant setups and scaling across 100+ clusters.
- Develop Internal Developer Platforms using tools such as Backstage and Crossplane to enable development teams to provision infrastructure independently via self-service workflows.
- Design Infrastructure as Code, GitOps workflows, and manage networking components within the platform, selecting appropriate solutions such as Cilium, Istio, or traditional gateway configurations tailored to client needs.
- Develop tooling in Go and Python to simplify platform teams' workflows, including custom operators, CLI tools, and admission webhooks.
- Leverage AI-powered development tools like code assistants and automated code reviews to accelerate repetitive infrastructure tasks.
- Engage with various client projects featuring diverse architectures and challenges, with the ability to influence project selection and shift technical focus as desired.
Technologies Commonly Used
- Kubernetes, Karpenter, Cilium, Envoy, Istio, Go
- OpenTofu, Ansible, Crossplane, Argo CD, Helm
- Open Telemetry, Grafana Stack, VictoriaMetrics

Profile and Requirements
- Extensive hands-on Kubernetes experience in production environments with real user traffic.
- Deep understanding of developer workflows to craft Internal Developer Platforms with defined Golden Paths and self-service workflows, advocating this platform-driven approach to stakeholders.
- Proven experience implementing GitOps workflows and managing common challenges such as configuration drift, secret management, and multi-cluster synchronization.
- Daily use of Go or Python for tooling and automation, focusing on reusable platform components over one-off solutions.
- Proficient use of AI-assisted development tools and a solid understanding of how generative AI transforms engineering workflows.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluent German skills (minimum level C1) are mandatory, complemented by good English proficiency.
Additional Benefits
- Company culture based on open communication, flat hierarchies, self-organized and agile teams with trust and openness.
- Opportunities for personal growth including a dedicated training budget, internal academy, onboarding and mentoring programs, and community exchanges.
- Work-life balance with flexible and mobile work options, no core working hours, workation possibilities, and 30 days of annual leave.
- Family-friendly policies including flexible work models, childcare subsidies, and minimal overtime.
- Personalized benefits such as occupational pension schemes, E-Gym Wellpass, and company sports groups and communities.
- Mobility options like JobRad and company car leasing.
