About the Role

Aurecon seeks an experienced professional to establish and grow its ecology capability in New Zealand. You will lead the creation of a new ecology team based in Auckland, developing strong alliances with key clients in water, transport, and renewable energy sectors. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, client engagement, and business development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the formation and expansion of Aurecon's ecology team across New Zealand.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with important clients, identifying business opportunities.
  • Secure and execute ecology projects in transport, water, and renewable energy industries.
  • Provide expert leadership during all phases of ecology assessment and reporting.
  • Mentor and support emerging ecology team members as the group grows.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated environmental solutions.
  • Shape the strategic direction and market presence of Aurecon’s ecology services in New Zealand.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a closely related area.
  • Over 10 years of practical ecology experience within New Zealand.
  • Proven track record managing ecology assessments and reporting across various project stages.
  • Demonstrated success in client management, business development, and winning new work.
  • Well-established connections within NZ infrastructure, transport, water, and renewable energy sectors.
  • Experience leading projects and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to influence clients and colleagues.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and motivation to develop a new service offering.
  • A collaborative team-player dedicated to achieving quality outcomes.
