Role overview
This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced SQL Developer to join a collaborative Agile team at a leading organisation in Auckland. The position suits someone who enjoys contributing across the full software development lifecycle and helping improve a core billing platform.
You will work on planned changes to a key billing application, partnering closely with technical colleagues to design, build, test, release, and support solutions in a fast-moving environment.
Key responsibilities
- Organise work by planning, sequencing, and tracking tasks effectively.
- Work with developers and stakeholders to achieve shared delivery goals.
- Estimate backlog items and divide larger pieces of work into manageable actions.
- Deliver backlog items according to agreed acceptance criteria.
- Create unit tests and prepare clear supporting documentation.
- Assist teammates and help maintain a positive, cooperative team culture.
What you need
- At least 3 years of experience building and supporting software applications.
- Strong hands-on SQL database development capability.
- Good knowledge of Agile ways of working and technical delivery practices.
- Exposure to TDD, BDD, pair programming, and CI/CD approaches.
- A self-starting attitude and the ability to ramp up quickly.
- Experience with utility billing software will be highly valued.
- .NET development background is an advantage.
- Understanding of utility industry concepts is a plus.
