Job Summary
The Loss Prevention Manager is responsible for overseeing daily security and loss prevention activities, safeguarding property assets, employees, guests, and property itself. This role also involves accident and fire prevention and appropriate emergency response. The manager ensures the entire premises remain secure and compliant with legal and operational standards while aiming to elevate guest and employee satisfaction and optimize the department's financial results.
Candidate Profile
- Applicants should have either a high school diploma or GED plus at least four years of experience in security, loss prevention, or related fields, or possess a two-year degree in Criminal Justice or a related discipline with a minimum of two years’ experience in the related areas.
Core Responsibilities
Managing Security and Loss Prevention Operations:
- Support in developing and implementing emergency protocols.
- Investigate all incidents involving property loss and report findings to management for appropriate action.
- Allocate security personnel effectively to monitor and protect assets.
- Ensure adherence to Corporate Loss Prevention safety and security policies.
- Conduct regular patrols of the property, including parking facilities.
- Recognize and reward outstanding performance within the team.
- Address complaints, mediate disputes, and resolve conflicts.
- Identify and propose measures to mitigate physical hazards and unsafe practices.
- Implement strategies for risk assessment and control.
- Maintain accurate records of patrols and security activities.
- Facilitate prompt medical assistance when needed.
Leading Security Teams:
- Participate in pre- and post-event meetings to understand group requirements and communicate these to security staff.
- Publicly acknowledge team accomplishments.
- Emphasize safety procedures and ensure staff comprehension and compliance.
- Foster trust, cooperation, and respect amongst team members.
- Identify development needs and provide coaching and mentoring.
- Set performance standards, monitor team output, and provide guidance.
- Offer personal care and support to colleagues and guests as needed.
- Act as a behavioral role model.
- Encourage open communication and respond to employee concerns.
- Aim continuously to enhance service standards.
- Exhibit leadership by influencing others positively and promoting ethical and sound decision-making.
Delivering Exceptional Customer Service:
- Lead by example in guest hospitality, maintaining high quality of service and fostering a welcoming environment.
- Empower staff to exceed guest expectations.
- Maintain daily quality and customer satisfaction benchmarks.
- Discuss guest safety and satisfaction regularly, focusing on improvement.
Human Resources and Administrative Duties:
- Manage accident claims actively to reduce costs.
- Report employee accidents and liability incidents appropriately.
- Conduct hourly performance reviews as per standard procedures.
- Apply disciplinary measures and maintain documentation consistent with operational policies.
- Ensure fairness in implementing property policies.
- Maintain certifications such as first aid and CPR for security officers.
- Address guest complaints effectively.
- Develop and deliver training and educational programs to enhance team skills.
- Provide customer service excellence to boost satisfaction and loyalty.
Additional Responsibilities
- Analyze data to identify optimal solutions and resolve problems.
- Maintain working relations with local law enforcement.
- Keep executives, peers, and team members informed with timely updates.
- Communicate effectively via phone, written correspondence, email, and in-person.
