About the Role
Join Aurecon as a Lead Electrical Engineer specializing in Substations within the Energy & Industrial division based in Auckland, New Zealand. As part of a collaborative and innovative team, you will engage in meaningful projects that contribute to infrastructure development and community resilience while fostering a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of high-voltage substation primary systems, including cable and earthing networks, from initial concept through detailed engineering stages.
- Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary projects involving transmission and distribution within both New Zealand and Australia.
- Prepare comprehensive design documentation, electrical power system analyses, proposals, and cost estimates for intricate projects.
- Cultivate strong professional relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Mentor engineering and design staff while supporting project planning, resource allocation, and program delivery timelines.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Academic qualification in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering or related disciplines.
- At least 12 years of professional experience focused on transmission and distribution substation design.
- Extensive knowledge of utility standards, codes, and industry best practices relevant to New Zealand and/or Australian contexts.
- Proven track record managing projects through their full lifecycle, from initial planning and concept design through construction support and commissioning phases.
- Exceptional communication, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement abilities with the capacity to provide effective technical leadership and constructive challenge.
