Java Developer

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our team at XPT Software Australia based in Carlton, Victoria. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software development, with expertise in Java and complementary technologies, across the full software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.

Key Responsibilities and Skills Required

• Possess a tertiary degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Bring up to 10 years of comprehensive experience in software development projects, covering design, building, testing, deployment, and maintenance phases.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Java and Kotlin, along with skills in JavaScript and Python, plus familiarity with additional project-specific programming languages.
• Exhibit a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and hands-on experience in full-stack development.
• Have knowledge of modern web technologies including Single Page Applications (SPA) and basic UI/UX design principles.
• Work effectively in Agile development environments, incorporating unit testing, test automation, continuous delivery pipelines, and DevOps or infrastructure automation practices.
• Display strong database management experience across a variety of systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and VectorPG.
• Be familiar with messaging technologies, relevant development frameworks and tools, as well as foundational Unix/Linux operating system skills.
