Job description

About VinFast

VinFast is an innovative electric vehicle company focused on transforming the automotive sector by delivering advanced, sustainable mobility solutions. We aim to provide top-tier electric vehicles that enhance the driving experience while promoting environmental sustainability. Our team is fueled by passionate professionals innovating at the intersection of technology and excellence to shape a greener future.

Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Senior ML Perception Engineer to join our self-driving vehicle team. This position involves designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated perception algorithms that empower autonomous cars to perceive, understand, and respond accurately to their surroundings. You will tackle complex challenges in 3D object and occupancy detection, multi-object tracking, sensor data fusion, semantic scene comprehension, and foundational model development for autonomous navigation. The role combines deep learning, computer vision, robotics, and systems engineering, offering collaboration with elite researchers and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, prototype, and fine-tune algorithms for 3D object and occupancy recognition, multi-object tracking, semantic segmentation, and 3D scene interpretation leveraging multi-sensor inputs like cameras, LiDAR, and radar.
  • Develop and modify foundational perception models to achieve scalable and adaptable representations that function across various perception tasks and sensor types.
  • Construct and enhance multi-sensor fusion workflows to improve system robustness under diverse and challenging driving conditions.
  • Investigate and implement cutting-edge machine learning and computer vision methodologies such as Bird’s Eye View (BEV) perception, occupancy networks, multimodal fusion, and end-to-end neural architectures.
  • Convert research outcomes into deployable production applications ensuring scalability, robustness, and computational efficiency.
  • Optimize deep neural networks for real-time execution on automotive-grade hardware platforms.
  • Conduct thorough model evaluation, benchmarking, and validation utilizing real-world datasets as well as simulated environments.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to embed perception solutions into the overall autonomous driving system.
  • Support data management activities including data curation, annotation techniques, and scalable training pipelines to expedite perception capabilities development.
  • Maintain high coding standards by producing efficient, reliable, and well-tested software.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends in computer vision, deep learning, robotics, and foundational models, contributing to scientific publications and patents when possible.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A Master’s or Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pertinent industry experience in machine learning and perception.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, computer vision, and 3D geometric processing.
  • Practical experience with 3D object detection and tracking frameworks.
  • Knowledge of foundational models applied to vision or multimodal learning like large-scale pretraining, transfer learning, or self-supervised paradigms.
  • Proficiency with Python and/or C++ programming languages and modern ML libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience working extensively with 3D point cloud data.
  • Understanding of multi-sensor calibration methods and fusion algorithms.
  • Strong software engineering skills focused on scalability, reliability, and high-performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to transition algorithms from academic research to commercial deployment.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving capabilities, innovation, and ability to thrive in dynamic team environments.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with autonomous driving or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) perception technologies, familiarity with SLAM, 3D reconstruction, occupancy networks or sensor simulation, and history of publications in respected conferences.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive remuneration package.
  • Chance to work alongside top automotive technology experts and enhance your skills.
