Help at Home is actively seeking caring and dependable Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) within their homes and communities. Role Summary
In this role, you will provide personalized, one-on-one support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them foster independence and a dignified lifestyle both at home and in social settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, grooming, and transportation.
- Encourage and support participation in social and community events including shopping and recreational activities.
- Help clients achieve personal development goals and celebrate their progress.
- Promote clients' choice, independence, and self-advocacy skills.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, activities performed, and progress made.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
- Successful completion of background checks and required training.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, including proof of insurance.
- Ability to work safely and respectfully in client environments.
- Demonstrated compassion, dependability, and commitment to positively impacting others' lives.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting individuals with I/DD or autism, including the implementation of Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
- Familiarity with basic behavior support methods such as redirection, visual prompts, and modifying environments to support clients.
