Claims Associate

Position Overview

The Claims Associate is responsible for securing appropriate credits from vendor partners and managing inventory through correct handling of merchandise following company standards. This position emphasizes exceptional service to vendors, colleagues, and customers on the sales floor.

Main Duties

• Support shrink prevention efforts by promptly scanning all damaged or stolen items.
• Manage vendor returns, return authorizations (RA), recalls, related documentation, packing, and shipping to ensure timely completion in line with company policies. Handle SORT and Global Donation merchandise.
• Consistently adhere to safety procedures such as correct chemical disposal, maintaining a clean and hazard-free claims area, proper ladder use, and lifting techniques.
• Oversee merchandise returns via claims to safeguard assets, minimizing chargebacks by applying appropriate handling and processes related to shrink. Maintain records on returns and shrink recoveries within the store.
• Stay informed about company policies and guidelines regarding damaged and recalled merchandise; implement new store programs and systems continuously.
• Follow the Return Manual to keep claim processes up to date, reduce chargebacks, and ensure Vendor Return Request Forms are completed for claims exceeding 45 days.
• Fulfill all responsibilities related to the General Merchandise Customer Value Program (GM CVP).
• Provide operational support to the Office Support Associate and guidance to Store Delivery Associate as necessary.
• Must be at least 18 years old due to responsibility for handling alcohol.

Compensation

The starting pay rate for this role is $18.55 per hour.
