Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

As part of Balfour Beatty's expanding BTNO portfolio, we are seeking a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Power Commercial team to contribute to the delivery of some of the UK’s most significant and complex infrastructure projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor aiming for a new challenge or a Senior Quantity Surveyor wanting to lead and make an impact on major infrastructure projects that facilitate the UK’s shift to a low-carbon future.

This role involves working closely on high-profile energy projects, managing essential commercial activities, building strong relationships with project teams and supply chain partners, and supporting project delivery from start to finish. Both full-time and part-time applicants are welcome, reflecting our commitment to flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

• Systematically organize and verify information through detailed data checks.
• Independently measure, record, and value works consistent with relevant procedures and guidelines.
• Review and monitor project schedules and programmes.
• Strategize commercial activities to align with project timelines.
• Assess and understand the effects of delays or disruptions on project progress.
• Collect and specify procurement requirements for suppliers.
• Document procurement processes and supplier engagement steps clearly.
• Maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships within assigned responsibilities.
• Conduct measurements and agree valuations of subcontracted works.
• Compile, analyze, and report cost and value data.
• Prepare statements reconciling costs and values accurately.
• Support and mentor colleagues within the commercial team.
• Progress towards professional chartered status (RICS or equivalent body).

Qualifications and Experience

Essential: A BSc or MSc degree in Quantity Surveying.

Preferred:

• Excellent communication capabilities.
• Proven team collaboration skills.
• Strong focus on achievement and meeting delivery targets.
• Previous experience in commercial roles.
• Familiarity with infrastructure or utilities industry sectors.
