Job Overview
The Assistant Manager role at Hegarty's Centra in Claremorris, County Mayo, Ireland, demands ensuring smooth and efficient store operations while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining a fresh food offering in a clean and safe environment. The position is oriented towards achieving key store objectives such as sales and profitability through proficient leadership and operational management.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a relevant retail management role preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience with cash handling and till balancing.
- Strong communication and delegation capabilities.
- Highly motivated with a robust work ethic.
- Understanding of setting and meeting KPIs and targets in retail operations.
- Commercial awareness and alignment with brand values.
- Passion for the grocery retail sector.
- Ability to thrive and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Embody and promote the Centra brand values: Proud, Energetic, Imaginative, and Community-Based.
- Set, oversee, and realize sales targets with the team focusing on gross profit margin, net margin, waste reduction, and other agreed KPIs under the Store Manager’s guidance.
- Execute planogram implementations accurately ensuring the appropriate product range is consistently available in-store.
- Maintain high standards of merchandising and store presentation.
- Lead by example to foster a positive workplace atmosphere, encourage teamwork, and remain approachable as a role model.
- Enhance communication between staff and management promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
- Assist the Store Manager with team development, training, and smooth daily store operations.
- Manage employee performance with regular feedback, recognition, and motivation.
- Handle customer inquiries promptly, professionally, and adhering to store policies.
- Possess a clear understanding of departmental margin achievement.
- Engage with and support new initiatives and innovative operational methods.
