Role Overview
The Transformer Testing Engineer will be responsible for executing factory, site, pre-commissioning, and commissioning tests on power and distribution transformers. All activities must comply with IEC, IEEE, IS standards, project specifications, and client expectations.
Primary Duties
- Conduct thorough testing and commissioning procedures on site.
- Assess and verify reports such as OEM, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
- Collaborate with construction, protection, and commissioning teams to ensure smooth project progress.
- Generate detailed test reports, checklists, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure all testing activities adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Engage with clients and consultants during inspections and approval processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (BE, BTech, or equivalent).
- Five to ten years of proven experience in transformer testing and commissioning.
- Hands-on expertise with EHV, HV, and MV transformers.
- Comprehensive knowledge of IEC 60076 and IEEE transformer standards.
- Experience handling substation projects, preferably with GIS and AIS technologies.
Required Skills
- Proficient with transformer testing instruments and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong ability to interpret test outcomes and perform fault analysis.
- Skilled in site coordination and documentation management.
- Effective communication skills collaborating with OEMs and client teams.
