Staff Software Developer - Back End

About the Role

Join Vena Solutions as a Staff Software Developer within the Core Engineering department based in Pune, India. This role involves working onsite 5 days a week to help maintain and evolve Vena's cloud-native SaaS platform. Staff Developers here act as architectural leaders in the team, owning the delivery of feature upgrades and modernization efforts while remaining hands-on with code. You will be key in improving foundational systems in ways that do not disrupt customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and testing of improvements and performance enhancements to the core platform.
• Tackle complex technical issues and resolve challenging bugs in foundational systems.
• Collaborate across teams to address larger technical and product concerns.
• Mentor peers to foster technical growth and improve team software capabilities.
• Drive significant efforts aimed at enhancing product quality, infrastructure modernization, and code maintainability.
• Innovate with technical solutions, fostering excitement and collaborative implementation.
• Work closely with architecture and product teams to shape the technical roadmap.
• Cultivate a culture of engineering excellence centered on continuous learning of new technologies and methods.
• Ensure long-term health of the codebase by prioritizing and addressing technical debt in planning cycles.
• Promote adoption of AI-assisted development practices and novel tooling to boost productivity and accelerate quality software delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

• Over 8 years of software development experience specializing in back-end/server-side engineering.
• Expertise in Java programming and building/maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Curiosity and openness to utilizing AI-driven techniques to improve performance and efficiency.
• Experience with frameworks such as Dropwizard (preferred) or Spring Boot.
• Background managing and modernizing large, mature codebases.
• Firm grasp of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, algorithms, and computational complexity.
• Proven technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Familiarity working within Scrum or Agile software development environments.
• Experience collaborating with distributed teams located across multiple geographies.
• Highly self-driven with dedication to engineering quality.

Preferred Skills

• Proficient in RESTful API design, SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Delivery (CI/CD) tools like Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Compensation & Work Details

• Annual base salary range: ₹3,799,461 to ₹5,140,448, tailored based on skills, experience, education, and work location.
• 5 working days per week, onsite in Pune.
