Role Overview
This full-time position based on-site in Wānaka involves the installation of solar panels, batteries, and related system components on rooftops and ground-mounted frameworks. Responsibilities include assessing sites, securely mounting and wiring solar equipment, testing and commissioning the systems, and resolving basic performance issues. Additional duties encompass maintaining tools and equipment, observing health and safety standards, and cooperating with team members to ensure superior installation quality and customer satisfaction. Clear communication with customers and colleagues supports education, transparency, and the sustained performance of installed systems.
Qualifications and Skills
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of solar power systems, including basic electrical principles and system layouts.
- Skilled in the safe operation of both power and hand tools used for roof and various site installations.
- Familiarity with the solar sector, current technologies, system components, and best practices for residential and commercial solar installs.
- Relevant trade or technical background such as electrical, construction, or mechanical experience; solar installation experience is advantageous.
- Ability to work securely at heights while complying with health and safety protocols and handle physically demanding outdoor tasks.
- Strong problem-solving acumen, meticulous attention to detail, and dedication to quality workmanship and excellent customer care.
- Effective communication skills and aptitude for teamwork within a small, mission-driven group.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and legal eligibility for on-site work in Wānaka and the neighboring areas.
