Shipping Operator

About the Role

We are looking for a Shipping Operations Executive responsible for managing daily tanker voyage operations within an international energy and commodities framework. This role involves close collaboration with shipowners, charterers, vessel Masters, terminals, agents, and internal teams to guarantee safe, compliant, and commercially optimal voyage execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete operational execution of crude oil and petroleum tanker voyages from start to finish.
• Maintain frequent coordination with vessel Masters, shipowners, charterers, terminals, port agents, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient voyage progress.
• Track vessel movements and voyage stages, supervise loading and unloading operations, and ensure compliance with voyage instructions and charterparty conditions.
• Organize port calls, berth assignments, agency tasks, terminal requirements, and all other operational processes.
• Manage bunker fuel needs, coordinating procurement, delivery timing, and supply logistics with the relevant parties.
• Monitor laytime and other operational factors impacting voyage financials; assist in preparing, reviewing, and negotiating demurrage, freight, and other voyage claims.
• Maintain thorough and precise voyage documentation, including schedules, port visits, operational reports, and claim-supporting documents.
• Update sailing and operational details in shipping management software like Veson IMOS and generate related voyage reports.
• Recognize and escalate operational, commercial, and regulatory risks while ensuring strict adherence to sanctions, trade rules, company policies, and charterparty terms.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a Diploma or Degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum of approximately 3 years of experience in tanker or shipping operations, post-fixture, vessel operations, or marine logistics.
• In-depth knowledge of crude oil and petroleum tanker operations and familiarity with port and terminal procedures.
• Understanding of voyage documentation, bunker fuel planning, and charterparty operational terminologies such as laycan, NOR, laytime, demurrage, off-hire, and deviations.
• Experience liaising with vessel Masters, shipowners, charterers, terminal personnel, agents, and other maritime partners.
• Experience with Veson IMOS or similar shipping/ETRM systems is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication, coordination, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to handle urgent operational issues in a fast-moving environment, sometimes beyond regular office hours.
