Job description
About The Role
Auxo delivers essential software solutions for the automotive sector, supporting critical daily operations for workshops, dealerships, fleet managers, and parts suppliers. With over 30 years in the industry and majority ownership by the Motor Trade Association, Auxo’s cloud platform (Auxo Workshop) is expanding across Australia, offering a widely-used SaaS product with strong market momentum.
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer focused primarily on frontend development. You will collaborate closely with the Frontend Lead to enhance the user interface, which is pivotal for customer workflows. The web application facilitates workshop planning and management, while the React Native mobile app supports technicians working onsite under challenging network conditions and time constraints. Emphasis is placed on performance optimization, reliability, user-friendliness, and maintainable design.
The role includes end-to-end ownership of features, contributing backend development in .NET / C# when necessary to ensure features are delivered as fully functional, production-ready units. Our culture values practical, friendly engineers who take responsibility, engage in constructive code reviews, communicate proactively, and prioritize delivering value to users.
Additionally, Auxo is gradually incorporating AI capabilities to accelerate development without sacrificing quality, security, or testing standards. If you enjoy experimenting with AI tools and fostering team growth, you will thrive here.
Responsibilities
- Develop production-quality front ends using React and TypeScript.
- Utilize Next.js or comparable modern React frameworks for web app development.
- Build and maintain React Native mobile apps deployed via Expo.
- Optimize frontend performance through measurement and targeted improvements.
- Collaborate effectively with leadership on architecture, design systems, and performance strategies.
- Maintain high standards for testing, accessibility, and safe deployment.
- Integrate AI tools responsibly to enhance productivity and code quality.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience building commercial frontends with React and TypeScript.
- Strong practical knowledge of Next.js or equivalent frameworks.
- Hands-on experience shipping React Native applications to app stores.
- Demonstrated ability to measure and improve frontend performance.
- Effective collaboration skills, including providing and receiving constructive code reviews.
- Familiarity with quality assurance practices such as testing and accessibility standards.
- Comfortable leveraging AI technologies in software development workflows.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
- Supportive, lean senior engineering team with substantial influence over product direction.
- Opportunity to work on crucial frontend systems used daily by customers, spanning web and mobile platforms.
- An established product and company expanding from New Zealand into Australia.
- A culture emphasizing ownership, pragmatism, and engineering excellence.
- Practical involvement in shaping the integration of AI within our development processes.
