Logistics Analyst (Contract)

The Logistics Analyst will play a pivotal role supporting the comprehensive execution of air freight forwarding spot quotes by managing rate requests, validating costs, and coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle assigned air freight rate requests from initial receipt to final closure, including Requests for Information (RFIs) and urgent spot move requests, originating both internally and externally.
• Ensure shipment details—including origin/destination, service levels, commodity specs, dimensions, weights, shipment dates, special handling, and delivery schedules—are accurate and complete.
• Investigate contracted rates, routing guides, rate validity, service levels, lane coverage, and allowed accessorial charges to establish if existing contracts apply.
• Verify calculations and commercial terms against approved rate sources and escalate discrepancies or exceptions as necessary.
• Maintain rate request records across multiple platforms such as Salesforce, RateCloud, Keelvar, Power BI, Excel, Teams, and email.
• Issue RFIs for planning or cost estimates, documenting all assumptions and advising on the need for pricing validation prior to shipment execution.
• Initiate spot requests to approved air freight forwarders, providing comprehensive shipment details, setting deadlines, monitoring supplier responses, and ensuring compliance with shipment timings.
• Analyze supplier offers considering pricing, transit times, routing, capacity, service levels, quote validity, exclusions, and operational viability; communicate as needed to clarify or amend incomplete or inconsistent information.
• Compute complete transportation costs by including chargeable weights, freight rates, minimum charges, fuel, security, pick-up/delivery, handling, customs-related, special services, and other authorized accessorial fees; adjust for currency and measurement units as needed and document assumptions.
• Deliver clear quote comparisons and recommendations indicating total costs, providers, routing, transit times, validity, assumptions, exclusions, and risk factors, safeguarding supplier pricing confidentiality.
• Collaborate actively with trade lanes, facilities, dealers, factories, procurement, operations teams, freight forwarders, and other partners to resolve inquiries and facilitate timely execution of spot moves.
• After quote acceptance, confirm award details with relevant parties, secure house air waybill or booking references, complete required approvals, and update management through to closure.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation including requests, quotes, calculations, approvals, communication records, bookings, and justification of exceptions in compliance with processes, audit standards, and legal requirements.
• Monitor open requests, manage priorities, track responses and aging items, analyze savings or cost avoidance, and escalate urgent, high-risk, or stalled requests.
• Adhere strictly to export control, confidentiality, procurement, sourcing, record retention, and air freight forwarding policies and look for opportunities to optimize templates, data quality, turnaround times, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail demonstrated through precise rate validation, cost computations, and accurate data entry.
• Ability to juggle multiple requests, platforms, and deadlines efficiently under pressure, prioritizing urgent moves effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel incorporating complex formulas, lookups, filters, data comparisons, and structured cost analyses; familiarity with Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Quick adaptability in learning and navigating procurement, sourcing, rate management, CRM, and reporting systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills facilitating clear information requests, concise summary of quote options, assumption documentation, and multi-functional coordination.
• Preferred knowledge of air freight principles including chargeable/dimensional weight, service levels, route pairs, transit times, quote validity, and accessorial charges.
• Sound judgment to detect rate irregularities, operational risks, incomplete data, and situations necessitating escalation.

Additional Information

• This role requires onsite presence five days per week in Singapore.
• Caterpillar currently does not sponsor employment visas for this position in Singapore; however, global opportunities exist elsewhere through Caterpillar's career website.
• This position is a 12-month agency contract with payroll handled by the agency.
