Help at Home is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals to offer assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. Role Overview
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), your primary role is to deliver personalized, one-on-one assistance to promote independence and quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with everyday tasks including meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, grooming, and transportation needs.
- Support participation in social and community activities such as shopping and attending events.
- Encourage clients to reach personal goals and recognize their achievements.
- Promote autonomy, personal choice, and self-advocacy.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care, activities, and client progress.
- Collaborate with team members to provide consistent, quality support.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a background check and required training.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance (primary or secondary).
- Ability to work respectfully and safely in clients’ homes and community settings.
- Compassion, reliability, and a strong desire to make a meaningful impact.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism.
- Knowledge in implementing Individual Activity Support Plans and Plans of Service and Supports.
- Familiarity with foundational behavioral support techniques such as redirection, visual prompting, and modifying environments for better outcomes.
