Role Summary
We are looking for a proficient Database Administrator to join our team focused on developing and sustaining IT systems that support data management functions. The successful candidate will ensure database architecture is secure, scalable, and performs optimally. Also, the role includes providing production support and promptly resolving database issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement database architectures and modeling approaches that guarantee security, scalability, and dependable performance.
- Work alongside application development teams to define and optimize the application data models.
- Serve as the primary liaison for key software and hardware vendors.
- Deliver production support, including after-hours assistance, to resolve database-related problems.
- Support application teams with tasks such as data patching, deployments, and extracting data for reporting purposes.
- Strategize data mapping for migrating information from legacy systems, ensuring the integrity and completeness of data during conversions.
- Evaluate data mapping, migration, and integration plans to ensure they meet quality and modeling standards.
- Oversee accurate and timely data synchronization when legacy systems coexist with new databases.
- Create and maintain database-related scripts and code including data synchronization, masking, and stored procedure scripts.
- Ensure database services and servers maintain high availability.
- Install and configure required databases and related products.
- Provide operational support such as applying regular patches, addressing security vulnerabilities found during scans, managing database accounts, and optimizing performance through methods like query tuning and index creation.
- Plan for capacity and configure database backup systems.
- Implement database hardening practices in compliance with authoritative standards.
Candidate Profile and Skills
- Demonstrated experience managing Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and MongoDB environments, including installation and maintenance.
- Experience with high-availability active-active database configurations is advantageous.
- Knowledge of PL/SQL scripting is preferred.
- Understanding of ETL workflows and technologies supporting data coexistence with legacy systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with database auditing principles and security protocols is desirable.
- Experience using data masking tools is beneficial.
