Internship Overview
This internship focuses on the exploration and development of AI-integrated robotics and embedded systems. Interns will gain practical experience working with robotic hardware and software, including sensors, embedded platforms, and advanced AI models like VLA and robotics foundation models. The role involves deploying these technologies on physical or simulated robots to build intelligent autonomous machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct and test robotics and embedded setups utilizing platforms such as Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, and NVIDIA Jetson.
- Develop software controlling robotics systems primarily using Python, C, and C++ languages.
- Integrate various sensors, cameras, motors, and actuators into robotic devices.
- Operate and simulate robotics environments using ROS and ROS 2 frameworks.
- Design and refine robot control mechanisms including motion and real-time control loops.
- Apply computer vision techniques, sensor fusion, and AI for robotics applications.
- Investigate and implement VLA and foundational robotics models including OpenVLA, SmolVLA, GR00T, and others.
- Experiment with specific robotics platforms like LeRobot and SO-100/SO-101 models.
- Run and optimize AI inference locally and on GPU-based systems.
- Troubleshoot issues spanning hardware, software, AI models, and inference pipelines.
- Maintain thorough documentation covering experiments, benchmarks, and technical processes.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to research and integrate emerging robotics and AI technologies.
Candidate Profile and Eligibility
- Availability to work remotely and commence between August 26 and September 30, 2026.
- Commitment to a 6-month internship duration.
- Possess or demonstrate relevant skills and strong enthusiasm for robotics, Physical AI, VLA models, and autonomous systems.
- Hands-on experience with embedded hardware (Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi) from academic or personal projects.
- Familiarity with programming in Python or C++, proficiency with ROS/ROS 2, PyTorch, OpenCV, and Linux environments.
- Understanding or practical skills in robot kinematics, actuators, sensors, computer vision, and real-time control.
- Preference for candidates experienced with OpenVLA, SmolVLA, GR00T, π0, LeRobot, SO-100/SO-101, NVIDIA Jetson, or robotics simulators.
