About Gridsight and the Flex Product

Gridsight is an emerging startup focused on acceleration of global electrification and clean energy through innovative Grid/CleanTech solutions. We develop vertical SaaS software tailored for electricity utilities, empowering them to modernize grid management and access advanced flexibility capabilities such as dynamic operating envelopes and flexible interconnections. Following a successful Series A funding round with investors including Airtree Ventures and Energy Transition Ventures, Gridsight is positioned for rapid expansion.

The Flex product is Gridsight's platform for managing distributed energy resources (DERs), including dynamic operating envelopes, emergency support measures, export flexibility, and battery management. This solution allows utilities to efficiently oversee millions of solar units, batteries, and electric vehicles in near real-time, leveraging a power flow and optimization engine developed by our grid modeling specialists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver end-to-end product features spanning backend services, data structures, and web user interfaces.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of new functionality—from problem analysis to deployment and continuous improvement.
  • Create user-facing tools that enable utilities and internal teams to independently configure systems, monitor operations, and generate reports.
  • Collaborate with data models and backend services underpinning the Flex product suite.
  • Build and maintain operational tools and monitoring systems to ensure stability across an expanding customer portfolio.
  • Work closely with the grid modeling team to incorporate power flow and optimization data into product workflows.
  • Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance efficiency and elevate the quality of deliverables.
  • Advance engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing, observability, and shared knowledge.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Between 3 to 6+ years of experience in software engineering, demonstrated by a history of delivering and operating production software.
  • Proficiency in at least one area—backend, data engineering, or frontend development—with flexibility to work across all domains.
  • Experience shipping user-facing features in a live environment.
  • Solid engineering foundation emphasizing clean architecture, thorough testing, code reviews, and continuous integration and deployment practices.
  • Familiarity and active use of AI-driven development tools such as code generation agents or workflow assistance systems.
  • High degree of ownership and a proactive approach to progressing ideas into functional software autonomously.

Preferred but Not Required

  • Background in energy, utility services, or infrastructure-related technology sectors.
  • Skills in converting analytical models, optimization, or data analytics outputs into engaging product features.
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks like React.
  • Understanding of data engineering concepts, including pipelines, orchestration, and data warehouse fundamentals.
  • Experience integrating large language models (LLMs) into live product environments.
