About the Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs Team
This team comprises dedicated experts who support Affirm's innovation and growth by providing legal, compliance, and policy guidance. Their multidisciplinary approach ensures trust and regulatory adherence across Affirm’s consumer and partner ecosystem.
About the Licensing Team
The Licensing team ensures Affirm's compliance and scalability in regulated markets worldwide by managing the company’s licensing portfolio, regulatory relationships, and licensing strategies in the U.S. and internationally. They work closely with Legal, Compliance, Product, and business stakeholders to support business expansion.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide support for the launch of new products and services concerning state licensing and reporting, including areas such as money transmission, servicing/collections, lending, and international market expansion.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams like Legal, Public Affairs, Compliance, Finance, and Tax to fulfill regulatory licensing and reporting requirements.
- Maintain a centralized repository for licensing and reporting obligations, covering workflows and regulatory guidance for new license categories.
- Work with the Licensing team to interpret, prepare, and file state licensing annual reports, MSB call reports, and other regulatory submissions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory deadlines, identify licensing issues, and oversee ongoing regulatory obligations through the licensing management system.
- Lead the preparation of renewal applications and other documentation across multiple licensing jurisdictions.
- Coordinate on NMLS licensing, reporting, and related regulatory filings.
- Analyze and develop process improvements utilizing AI to enhance efficiency within the licensing program.
- Assist in researching and integrating licensing requirements into the licensing management tool.
- Work closely with senior leadership to meet ongoing state licensing obligations.
- Participate in licensing projects and initiatives alongside the team.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in licensing, compliance, or regulatory roles, preferably within consumer financial services.
- Exceptional skills in time management, administration, and organization, able to juggle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Strong project management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exhibit humility, integrity, and enjoy working as part of a close-knit, supportive team.
- Curious and eager to learn, taking initiative and ownership of projects.
- Highly focused, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable adapting in a rapidly changing, high-growth setting where priorities may shift frequently.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual base salary ranges from $133,000 to $183,000 depending on experience and location. Affirm offers a transparent pay structure including equity awards and monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology expenses. Benefits include fully subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their dependents.
Work Environment
Affirm operates as a remote-first company, allowing flexibility to work from nearly any location within the applicable country. Some roles may require occasional onsite presence at Affirm's offices.
