Job description
Overview
The Digital Budget Manager will oversee the planning, management, and analysis of budgets related to digital departments and projects within the company. This role requires collaboration with various teams including Finance, Procurement, Contracts, and Digital units to ensure financial oversight and strategic cost optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and management of annual and multi-year budgets for digital departments and projects.
- Set budget baselines and supervise tracking of approved, committed, actual, and forecasted expenditures.
- Monitor budgets tied to IT projects, digital products, and services in alignment with delivery milestones.
- Analyze budget deviations and recommend corrective actions for financial control.
- Oversee budget modifications including change requests, transfers, and reallocations.
- Create financial models, forecasts, scenarios, and dashboards using Microsoft Excel.
- Conduct market research, benchmarking, and pricing analysis to support budgeting decisions.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements across licenses, cloud services, infrastructure, contract conditions, and service agreements.
- Review cost estimates for projects and evaluate the financial viability of new initiatives.
- Identify potential financial risks, monitor budget overruns, and manage future financial commitments.
- Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Contracts, and Digital teams to align on financial aspects.
- Prepare and deliver financial reports and recommendations for executive leadership.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Over 7 years of experience managing budgets, financial planning, and portfolio or project management, ideally within IT or digital sectors.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including expertise with Pivot Tables, financial modeling, Power Query, and preferably Power Pivot.
- Strong comprehension of IT project lifecycles and technology-related cost models.
- Experience analyzing costs related to licensing, subscriptions, cloud services, development, operations, maintenance, and technical contracts.
- Demonstrated abilities in financial forecasting, scenario planning, benchmarking, and cost optimization strategies.
- Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail in financial data assessment.
- Capability to critically challenge expenditures, identify efficiencies, and advise with data-backed financial insight.
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and executive report delivery.
- Professional certifications in Finance, Project Management, or IT are considered an advantage.
