Job description
Role Overview
Located at Waterford Village in Hobsonville, Auckland, Oceania is seeking a dedicated Café Supervisor for a fixed-term position from late September 2026 until early April 2027. This role requires working 37 hours per week and involves hands-on leadership of the café's daily operations.
Primary Duties
- Lead and support the café team to ensure a warm and inviting atmosphere for residents, families, and visitors.
- Establish strong relationships with customers, delivering exceptional service consistently.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu planning, cabinet items, and quality food presentation.
- Engage directly in kitchen tasks such as basic cooking, baking, and preparing sandwiches or short-order meals.
- Prepare excellent coffee and assist with daily food and beverage service.
- Manage inventory, including stock levels and ordering processes.
- Oversee POS and EFTPOS transactions accurately and maintain reliable café records.
- Support catering for resident events and other special functions.
- Maintain rigorous standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness throughout the café.
- Provide training and mentorship to café team members, enhancing their skills and development.
- Manage operational costs effectively while seeking ongoing improvements in the café experience.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of three years' experience in food service, preferably including supervisory or senior roles in a café environment.
- Comfortable and experienced with food preparation and basic cooking duties.
- Excellent customer service abilities coupled with a warm and approachable demeanor.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in team development and support.
- Solid knowledge of food safety protocols, hygiene practices, and general café operations.
- Well-organized, capable of managing stock and day-to-day administrative tasks efficiently.
- Barista experience or skills will be a beneficial addition.
- Hospitality qualifications or food handling certifications are advantageous.
- Effective communicator, adept at building positive connections with diverse individuals.
- Possesses a collaborative mindset and willingness to assist across various areas as needed.
