Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned mechanical engineer, preferably with experience in injection molded plastics, ready to tackle complex and fast-paced projects within a purpose-driven company. This position focuses on designing mechanical solutions that protect and connect electronic components across diverse climates and weather conditions for up to 25 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transition parts and assemblies from conceptual stages to full production, including design, prototyping, detailed drawing creation, part evaluation, supplier collaboration, and contract manufacturing oversight.
  • Plan and conduct engineering and verification testing for components and finished products.
  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve product development issues and failures, extending support to existing product lines.
  • Maintain thorough documentation covering design, testing, and analytical activities.
  • Provide mechanical engineering expertise to cross-functional teams, supporting sourcing, manufacturing, reliability, and quality assurance processes.
  • Manage relationships with global suppliers to ensure timely part and assembly delivery.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • More than 8 years of hands-on experience in design involving injection molding, sheet metal, and CNC machining techniques.
  • Proficient in both investigative and verification testing methodologies.

Desired Competencies

  • Ability to rapidly design parts and assemblies utilizing strong modeling methods.
  • Capability to generate clear, high-quality engineering drawings.
  • Skill in executing tests, interpreting results, and accurately documenting findings.
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and demonstrating proactive initiative.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Expertise with plastics, especially injection molding processes.
  • Experience using SolidWorks in a Product Data Management (PDM) system.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience of engineering teams.
  • Designing products for long-term reliability, aiming for lifespans up to 25 years.
  • Knowledge of connectors or power electronics.
  • Familiarity with top-down modeling techniques like Master Modeling.
  • Application of statistical analysis methods within an engineering framework.
