Job description

Role Overview

The Shift Lead position entails managing store operations in the absence of store management, ensuring readiness for business hours, and maintaining a positive customer experience. This role is responsible for opening and closing duties, cash handling, and assisting with merchandising and inventory management.

Core Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store including necessary system startups, cash handling, and preparation of sales floor and stockroom.
  • Manage product returns, void orders, customer refunds, cash deposits, and cash register change management.
  • Welcome and assist customers and patients, addressing queries and resolving complaints to maintain excellent service standards.
  • Demonstrate and promote superior customer service practices such as proactive assistance and fulfilling customer needs.
  • Hold store keys to facilitate opening and closing without management present.
  • Support team members with warehouse and vendor order processes including receiving deliveries by opening the back door.
  • Ensure registration of all sales on assigned cash register, monitoring scanning errors, price changes, and voids.
  • Assist management in reviewing order exceptions and handling reverse logistics like returns and empty packages.
  • Help develop and implement promotional displays, seasonal setups, merchandise resets, and revisions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts across departments, stockroom, and overstock areas.
  • Ensure compliance with the Outdate program and proper stock rotation using FIFO method.
  • Manage department pricing changes daily and ensure appropriate signage to reflect pricing accurately and follow local regulations.
  • Assist with bookkeeping tasks including cash reports, counts, ledgers, and bill payments as required.
  • Contribute to interior and exterior store maintenance, ensuring cleanliness and orderly appearance, and report repair needs.
  • Separate food items according to company policies and position products correctly, especially perishable goods.
  • Operate store systems and equipment effectively and assist at pharmacy window as needed.
  • Enforce compliance with regulations concerning controlled products such as alcohol and tobacco.
  • Conduct bag checks of team members upon store exit.
  • Adhere to all company policies and maintain respectful workplace relationships.
  • Complete assigned special projects and tasks as directed.

Training and Communication

  • Participate in trainings and complete Personal Performance Learning (PPL) assignments as requested by management.
  • Communicate effectively between management and staff by assigning tasks when management is absent.
  • Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management promptly.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least one year of leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder experience.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except Puerto Rico).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of store inventory control is desirable.
  • Employment will be considered regardless of arrest and conviction records.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as mandated by state law.

Additional Information
