Role Overview
As a foundational member of the Berlin engineering team, you will play a critical part in building and enhancing the Lakehouse Platform. This multi-year initiative aims to revolutionize data platforms by delivering faster, more user-friendly, and highly secure solutions for diverse data workloads. You will be involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle and embody the core values of Databricks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services and client libraries focused on large-scale cloud data storage such as AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, and Azure Blob Store.
- Address complex challenges spanning product development to infrastructure including distributed systems, service architecture at scale, monitoring tools, workflow orchestration, and developer experience enhancements.
- Deliver new product features to facilitate seamless data storage and retrieval experiences for customers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline.
- At least five years of hands-on experience in production environments with programming languages such as Java, Scala, or C++.
- Proven experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
- Background working on Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms or service-oriented architecture implementations.
- Proficient knowledge of SQL for database interaction and query optimization.
