Overview

We are seeking a Senior Security Operations Engineer based in Saudi Arabia to join a cutting-edge security engineering team. This role focuses on the development and operation of a top-tier Security Operations function, balancing security operations, software engineering, security engineering, and site reliability practices to guard complex digital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and enhance security operations efforts by providing both operational and technical guidance.
  • Create, implement, and maintain security software, platforms, and tools that boost capabilities in detection, monitoring, response, and remediation.
  • Continuously monitor security environments to detect emerging threats, investigate incidents, co-ordinate responses, and facilitate remediation.
  • Evaluate and improve existing security controls to strengthen the overall security stance.
  • Apply principles from software engineering and site reliability to automate security workflows and enhance the scalability and reliability of security tools.
  • Provide mentoring to junior security operations engineers to build their technical skills and professional development.
  • Manage and prioritize security projects within an agile engineering framework.
  • Collaborate with engineering and security teams to tackle complex security challenges and bolster organizational resilience.
  • Contribute actively to the open source security community through projects, knowledge sharing, research publications, and industry presentations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Over 10 years of professional experience in cybersecurity and/or software engineering.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Security Operations Centers, ideally in leadership roles.
  • Strong software engineering expertise with the capacity to develop dependable security tools.
  • Proficient with scripting languages including Python and Bash.
  • Experience with version control (Git), GitOps methodologies, Infrastructure as Code, and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Deep understanding of security operations including monitoring, threat hunting, incident response, remediation, and defensive strategies.
  • Experience managing complex or high-stakes security environments, effectively countering advanced threats.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and leadership abilities to mentor teams and influence technical directions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related area, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven record of achievement and a strong interest in contributing to open source security efforts.
  • Familiarity with recognized security frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or ISO 27001 is advantageous.
  • Additional experience with security architecture, leadership in security teams, dealing with advanced persistent threats, or programming languages like Go is beneficial.
