Role Overview

The Python Developer will be based full-time on-site in Kampala, collaborating closely with product owners, designers, and fellow developers to design and sustain backend systems and applications. Key daily responsibilities include crafting and executing server-side logic, integrating and managing databases, developing RESTful APIs, and ensuring applications meet standards of performance, reliability, and security. Additionally, the role entails writing clean, maintainable, and testable Python code, conducting peer code reviews, engaging in technical discussions and planning, troubleshooting issues, optimizing existing solutions, documenting technical processes, and driving continuous enhancements in development practices and tooling.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficient programming abilities, especially in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Hands-on experience with backend web development using Python frameworks.
• Strong competencies in software development processes including testing, debugging, and version control systems.
• Experience with database design, query writing, and performance optimization.
• Academic credentials such as a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
• Familiarity with RESTful API development, security best practices, and performance improvement techniques.
• Effective communication skills, time management abilities, and teamwork aptitude for on-site collaboration.
• Additional experience with Linux environments, containerization technologies, or cloud platforms is advantageous.
