Role Overview
The Environmental Control Officer position is a full-time, onsite role based in Singapore focusing on ensuring that construction sites adhere to environmental regulations and company standards. The officer's duties include conducting daily inspections, overseeing pollution control and waste management, identifying environmental risks, and suggesting corrective actions. The role demands collaboration with project teams, subcontractors, and authorities, as well as conducting training sessions on environmental best practices. Staying current with local environmental laws is essential to maintain compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily monitoring and inspections of construction sites to ensure environmental compliance.
- Verify implementation and effectiveness of pollution control and waste management measures.
- Identify potential environmental hazards and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Prepare thorough documentation and reports for submission to regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities to align operations with environmental standards.
- Conduct briefings and training sessions to promote environmental awareness and compliance among site personnel.
- Keep updated with local environmental legislation and guidelines to support ongoing compliance and improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven knowledge of environmental regulations and practical experience applying compliance measures on construction or industrial sites.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in a construction worksite environment.
- Ability to provide environmental consulting support, assessing risks, and recommending mitigation.
- Familiarity with Singaporean environmental laws and statutory requirements with capability to implement on site.
- Hands-on experience in conducting site audits, monitoring emissions, noise, waste management, and accurate documentation.
- Supervisory skills to advise and enforce environmental practices among site workers and contractors.
- Possession of Environmental Control Officer (ECMO) certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Construction, or related fields is advantageous.
- Strong communication and reporting abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Knowledge of construction site operations and safety standards is a plus.
