Job description
About PhysicsX
PhysicsX is a cutting-edge technology company rooted in numerical physics and Formula One expertise, aiming to speed up hardware innovation by leveraging software advancements. We develop AI-powered simulation software tailored for engineering and manufacturing in advanced sectors such as Aerospace & Defense, Materials, Energy, Semiconductors, and Automotive.
Role Overview
We are searching for a CFD Engineer focused on delivery who is a proactive problem solver passionate about practical solutions to aid engineering decisions. This position involves collaborating directly with customers, often on-site, to build CAE simulation models integrated with AI tools that enhance usability and impact.
Responsibilities
- Construct detailed models from geometry preparation and meshing through simulation and post-processing for cases of moderate complexity with senior guidance.
- Modify and utilize parametric CAD models (using NX or CATIA) while contributing to automation efforts for simulations targeting design optimization and Design of Experiments studies.
- Assist in preparing and presenting simulation results clearly for customers under senior supervision, progressing toward independent presentations.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to generate simulation datasets that improve Machine/Deep Learning model accuracy and efficiency.
- Utilize Flux cloud platform and on-premises HPC to execute simulations, applying smarter meshing and setup techniques to enhance performance.
- Learn and implement engineering standards, refining CFD setups to support surrogate Deep Learning model development.
- Promote a cooperative learning environment within the simulation engineering team by sharing insights, identifying documentation gaps, and assisting with onboarding newer members.
- Travel occasionally within Europe, Asia, and Oceania to support client engagements with senior colleagues, with expectations of increased travel as independence grows.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Bachelor's or higher degree, preferably with a Master's or PhD, and 1-3 years of professional experience in a commercial engineering environment.
- Solid foundational knowledge in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and multiphase flow modeling.
- Practical experience with at least one CFD software: Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or Fluent, including automation features for workflow scalability.
- Familiarity with parametric CAD modeling tools such as NX or CATIA and programming abilities in Python or Java are advantages, along with a demonstrated capacity to learn new tools quickly.
- Comfortable setting up simulations for moderately complex scenarios and interpreting results to build professional engineering judgment.
- Ability to work collaboratively across diverse technical teams and effectively communicate technical results.
