Backend Developer

Role Overview

Join our engineering team as a Backend Developer focused on designing, developing, and enhancing backend systems and APIs. Your primary technologies will be Java and Spring Boot, crafting scalable, dependable, and secure RESTful APIs that support core business functions. Collaborate cross-functionally, influence architectural decisions, and elevate engineering practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain backend services leveraging Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Develop robust RESTful APIs to underpin essential products and services.
• Produce clean, testable, and maintainable code suited for production environments.
• Engage in architectural planning and technical system design discussions.
• Work extensively with database systems, including data modeling and persistence strategies.
• Ensure backend systems are scalable, reliable, perform well, and are secure.
• Develop automated unit tests, integration tests, and API tests to uphold code quality.
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical challenges effectively.
• Conduct and participate in peer code reviews to maintain engineering standards.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, DevOps teams, and various stakeholders.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineering team members.
• Drive improvements in development methodologies, tooling, and workflow processes.
• Assume ownership of projects and technical implementations from inception to production rollout.

Required Qualifications

• Proven commercial experience working with Java development.
• In-depth knowledge and extensive hands-on work with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Strong expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Experience supporting and maintaining backend services in production environments.
• Sound understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and software engineering best practices.
• Competency with relational databases and SQL for data storage and retrieval.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
