Role Overview

We seek a Backend Engineer to join our passionate engineering community of over 350 professionals across software development, infrastructure, and operations. This key team shapes scalable and impactful software solutions that define the future of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable backend services, ensuring clean, modular, and reusable code aligned with industry best practices.
• Work closely with stakeholders, product owners, and engineering leads to translate business needs into software solutions, estimating timelines and effort.
• Conduct code reviews, maintain coding standards, troubleshoot complex problems, and optimize code for high performance.
• Keep abreast of emerging tools and technologies; promote adoption when beneficial; foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration within the team.

Requirements

• Proven proficiency in backend software development with deep understanding of event-driven architectures, microservices, and domain-driven design principles.
• Fluent in English communication, capable of collaborating effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Self-driven, accountable, and solution-oriented with a growth mindset.
• Experienced in Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of functional programming concepts.
• Experience with Rust and/or Elixir programming languages.
• Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD), Event-Sourcing, and Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS).
• Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.

Compensation

Salary range from A350,000 to A395,000 annually.
