Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Staff Backend Engineer to design, develop, and sustain the foundational infrastructure behind AI-driven applications. This role involves close collaboration with machine learning engineers, data scientists, and frontend developers to build scalable, safe, and efficient backend platforms that support advanced AI features.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs supporting AI-based applications.
• Enhance database schemas and data processing pipelines to facilitate effective AI model training and inference tasks.
• Implement robust security protocols, including authentication, authorization, and data protection measures.
• Work alongside cross-disciplinary teams integrating AI models into operational production systems.
• Design infrastructure that ensures scalability, reliability, and high performance of backend systems.
• Create monitoring and logging solutions to track system health and AI model metrics.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Over eight years of professional experience in backend software development, preferably with Python and NodeJS.
• Advanced knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and gRPC protocol designs.
• Expertise in designing and managing both SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Experience working with cloud service providers like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proven skills in distributed computing concepts and microservices architectures.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to excel in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of message queue systems like Kafka and RabbitMQ, and event-driven architectural patterns.
• Exposure to large language models (LLMs), vector databases, and AI inference optimization strategies.
• Experience with DevOps processes, including continuous integration/deployment pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Knowledge of MLOps and AI model deployment workflows is advantageous.
