Overview
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Solution Architect to lead the architectural design and deployment of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native solutions. This influential role focuses on shaping a major enterprise commerce platform architecture with emphasis on Microsoft Azure, while also welcoming candidates experienced in AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and guide the creation of cloud-native systems based on microservices and event-driven design principles.
- Design and implement solutions leveraging Kubernetes orchestration (preferably AKS) and service mesh technologies such as Istio.
- Establish and enforce architectural best practices, standards, and patterns across engineering teams.
- Lead performance optimization efforts through comprehensive testing to ensure system scalability, responsiveness, and reliability across distributed architectures.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Communicate intricate technical concepts effectively to audiences ranging from technical staff to non-technical stakeholders.
- Create and maintain architectural diagrams and documentation using tools like Miro, Gliffy, and Draw.io.
- Steer cloud adoption, modernization, and optimization initiatives across teams.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and assess their relevance for business needs.
- Provide expert guidance on Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) topics during discovery phases, identify AI use cases, and support design and implementation of AI solutions to enhance productivity.
- Design and integrate AI use cases, including agents and skills using Copilot, within the Cordant ecosystem to drive efficiency.
- Support AI-enabled workflow design, configuration, and adoption in resolving bottlenecks at various stages of the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) and SDLC for participating teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- 15 to 20 years of software engineering experience with over 10 years dedicated to architecture roles and hands-on coding.
- Demonstrated production-grade experience with at least one major cloud platform: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies.
- Practical experience in defining non-functional requirements (NFR), architecture governance, detailed documentation, system and architectural design trade-offs.
- Familiarity with databases such as CosmosDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Oracle.
- Proficient in messaging and event-streaming platforms including Kafka and EventHub.
- Strong grasp of cloud networking, Identity and Access Management (IAM), security, and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).
- Experience implementing DevOps methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Proven leadership in architecture discussions and influencing technology planning and execution.
- Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
- Experienced with architecture visualization tools for effective conceptual communication.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Exposure to hybrid or multi-cloud architectures.
- Knowledge of financial operations (FinOps), observability frameworks, and cloud governance.
- Experience in supporting high-availability production workloads including disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity with Hybris e-commerce platform.
- Hands-on experience with Istio or other service mesh technologies.
- Competency in GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation.
