Job Summary
We invite you to join our lively Software Infrastructure division, taking a central role in scaling and managing critical infrastructure. Your work will involve creating key tools and services that support our wider software teams. You will enhance several aspects including building, testing, deployment, and productisation of our Machine Learning software components, gaining valuable experience with High-Performance Computing AI platforms and distributed systems.
The Team
This position is part of a newly established Build Engineering team within the Software Infrastructure group. The team’s mission revolves around managing and improving the build and integration processes of the Machine Learning software stack. Close collaboration with QA and development teams will provide insight into build processes, encouraging best practices, and ensuring the stack’s reproducibility within secure, isolated environments.
Responsibilities
- Create internal tools for building, testing, and integrating the Machine Learning software stack.
- Develop and refine processes related to software release management.
- Offer expert guidance to developers on effective build strategies and dependency handling.
- Maintain active communication with developers, technical leads, and architects regarding the software stack.
- Collaborate closely with QA to address integration challenges within the ML software stack.
- Contribute code and fixes directly to the ML software stack.
Requirements
- Proficient in Python, C++, or a comparable programming language.
- Solid understanding of build systems and frameworks.
- Experience working within Linux environments.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Desirable skills include experience with remote caching/execution (e.g., Bazel), build tools like CMake, testing frameworks such as PyTest or GoogleTest, integration tools like Buildstream, knowledge of software development lifecycle practices, container technologies (Docker, Podman), and familiarity with software architecture principles.
