Job description
Overview
The Shift Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing store operations during management absences, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, customer service, and ensuring the store floor and stock rooms are prepared for daily business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage store opening and closing duties in the absence of management, including operating systems, cash management, and preparing the sales floor and stock room.
- Handle product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and cash register change provisions.
- Deliver and exemplify exceptional customer service by greeting customers, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues.
- Lead and guide team members on customer service best practices to maintain a warm and proactive customer experience.
- Maintain store security by holding keys to open and close the store when management is unavailable.
- Support team members in warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including receiving deliveries and opening the back door for vendors.
- Ensure accurate recording of all sales transactions on assigned cash registers, including managing scanning errors, price verifications, and voids.
- Assist store management with order reviews, reverse logistics processes, display evaluations, and executing store resets and revisions.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels across departments, stockroom, and overstock areas and ensure compliance with the Outdate program.
- Manage daily pricing updates, ensuring proper signage and compliance with regulatory pricing requirements.
- Support bookkeeping activities such as cash reports, counts, ledgers, and bill payments as requested.
- Help maintain store cleanliness and orderly appearance, report repair needs if needed during management absence.
- Assist with food item separation and product placement following store policies, including stock rotation using FIFO methods.
- Understand and operate store systems and equipment efficiently.
- Assist at the pharmacy window when requested and enforce compliance with laws governing regulated products.
- Conduct bag checks on team members before they leave the store for security purposes.
- Comply with company policies and foster respectful coworker relationships.
- Complete special assignments and additional tasks as assigned by management.
Training & Personal Development
- Participate in training sessions and complete required performance and policy learning modules as directed by management.
Communication
- Act as a communication link between management and non-management team members by conveying assigned tasks in management's absence.
- Report disciplinary matters and customer complaints to store management promptly.
Qualifications
- At least one year of prior experience in leadership, supervisory roles, or retail key holder responsibilities.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required (except in Puerto Rico).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with store inventory control is preferred.
- Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered.
- Must obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state law.
