Team and Project Overview

You will be part of an Agile team comprising Software, Data, and Quality engineers managing two major big data projects. These initiatives involve processing vast data volumes daily, utilizing person-centric matching and fast batch and near-real-time processing techniques.

Role Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the development and improvement of cloud-native data ingestion, orchestration, transformation, and deployment layers. Your work will encompass managing batch and near-real-time data serving through APIs and backend systems. This greenfield project has ambitious future goals, creating significant impact for end clients. The role follows a hybrid format, requiring 50% office presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Make cross-team technical decisions collaboratively with engineering teams, Product, and Data Analytics to optimize outcomes.
• Ensure reliability, performance, cost-efficiency, and security within your domain.
• Set and uphold engineering standards for design reviews, API contracts, testing, and operational excellence.
• Actively contribute code, focusing on complex challenges, prototyping, and providing reference solutions.
• Mentor and help grow other engineers, guiding them towards senior roles in partnership with managers and data experts.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience (8+ years) developing and operating production-level Python applications on AWS, including leadership roles.
• Proven record of designing robust platforms or services that withstand load, change, and growth over time.
• Strong ability to evaluate and communicate technical trade-offs involving cost, performance, consistency, and development velocity.
• Demonstrable influence on team technical direction through contributions such as proposals, demos, shared tools, or architectural discussions.
• Commitment to mentorship with a history of positively impacting engineers' careers.
• Exceptional written communication skills for documentation, decision records, and postmortems.

Preferred Skills

• Advanced knowledge of AWS data platform technologies like Glue, Athena, MWAA, ECS/EKS, Iceberg/Parquet, and lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with highly scalable serverless designs featuring audit trails and guaranteed message processing semantics.
• Background in financial, credit, or regulated data environments is advantageous.
