Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and disciplined Security Officer to manage the protection of personnel, assets, and operations across various project sites, including those in high-risk and security-challenged areas. Preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds in the armed forces, police, civil defence, or similar security agencies. The role involves strategic security planning, risk management, and coordination. Experience handling security in conflict-prone, remote, or high-risk environments is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy security strategies for multiple project locations.
- Oversee on-site security arrangements and personnel.
- Establish and maintain standard security protocols and procedures across all project sites.
- Advise company leadership on security risks and mitigation strategies for ongoing operations.
- Conduct security risk assessments, especially in high-risk regions.
- Monitor changing security conditions and provide regular intelligence reports.
- Create contingency and emergency response plans.
- Recommend risk reduction measures for staff travel and field activities.
- Maintain collaboration with military, police, NSCDC, DSS, and other relevant agencies.
- Coordinate security clearances, escorts, and interventions when necessary.
- Engage with local authorities and community stakeholders to strengthen security partnerships.
- Guide safe staff deployments to project locations and support travel risk assessments.
- Periodically visit project sites to evaluate security preparations and suggest improvements.
- Manage security logistics for operations in remote or volatile areas.
- Lead responses to security incidents affecting personnel or assets.
- Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports with actionable recommendations.
- Maintain centralized security documentation and logs across all projects.
- Ensure compliance with company security policies and donor requirements.
- Support Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) compliance relating to security risks.
- Participate in audits and donor compliance reviews as needed.
- Conduct security awareness training, personal safety briefings, and travel protocol sessions for staff.
- Promote an organizational culture focused on security vigilance.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess at least an OND, HND, or BSc in a related discipline; Security Studies is an advantage.
- Have between 7 to 12 years of experience in security operations or management.
- Demonstrated experience handling security in high-risk, conflict-affected, or remote settings is mandatory.
- Prior work with NGOs, donor-funded programs, or large infrastructure projects is a plus.
- Relevant backgrounds include service with Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC, DSS, or similar agencies.
- Strong skills in security risk assessments and threat analysis.
- Experience coordinating regional security and providing advisory support.
- Knowledgeable about protocols for security in conflict and high-risk environments.
- Proficient in security incident reporting, crisis management, and emergency response.
- Sound understanding of Nigeria’s security context and regional security dynamics.
- Exhibits high discipline, integrity, and professionalism.
- Possesses strategic decision-making capabilities and excellent situational awareness.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and team leadership across dispersed locations.
- Ability to operate independently with leadership over remote teams.
- Willing to travel throughout Nigeria as required.
Benefits
The salary range for this position is ₦350,000 to ₦500,000.
