Job Summary
The role involves managing cost control, estimating, and financial reporting for extensive electrification and grid infrastructure projects run by international teams. As a Project Cost Controller, you will oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost performance to ensure projects are delivered on time and within cost objectives, integrating closely with cross-functional teams such as Planning, Procurement, and Commercial departments to maintain transparent and reliable financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and regulate project budgets, commitments, forecasts, and overall cost expenditures.
- Develop and update financial metrics including Estimate at Completion (EAC), Cost to Complete (CTC), cash flow, and analyze cost trends to guide decision-making.
- Conduct analyses on cost variances, productivity, and project performance, providing consistent reporting outputs.
- Coordinate cost control efforts with project scheduling and progress measurement, ensuring alignment with Earned Value Management (EVM) practices.
- Support estimation and pricing activities, including review of vendor offers and benchmarking market costs.
- Monitor and assess cost impacts of project changes, claims, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure uniformity in cost coding systems, including CBS and WBS frameworks, and reporting standards.
- Furnish trustworthy cost data to support commercial negotiations and stakeholder communications.
- Participate in enhancing cost control systems, processes, and forecasting accuracy for continual operational improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Finance, or an affiliated discipline.
- Proven experience in project cost management or estimating within substantial industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of sectors such as Electrification, HVDC, Substations, Grid Integration, or Oil & Gas offers an advantage.
- Expertise in principles of cost control, forecasting approaches, and performance evaluation techniques.
- Familiarity with WBS/CBS structuring and Earned Value Management methodologies.
- Competence with enterprise resource planning systems like SAP or Oracle.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Power BI capabilities are beneficial.
- Excellent communication abilities and capacity to effectively engage stakeholders.
- Fluency in English mandatory; German language skills are a plus.
- Demonstrated initiative with a focus on process enhancement and continuous learning.
Preferred Credentials
- Certification such as AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or equivalent credentials.
- Previous experience working in international project settings.
