About the Role
PGG Wrightson Seeds (PGWS), part of the global DLF Group, is a leading supplier of superior seed solutions for New Zealand and international markets. As a vital player in the country's arable industry, PGWS delivers products and services to growers, livestock producers, and food/feed manufacturers. We are looking for a Processing Supervisor to manage daily operations at our seed processing and dressing facility located in Ashburton, New Zealand. This role is pivotal within our AgriPro division, which plays a key part in the supply chain for New Zealand’s arable sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage seed cleaning, processing, and coating production lines, including oversight of the advanced Petkus Seed Cleaning Line, ensuring consistent operational excellence through maintenance and process enhancements.
- Supervise team members operating the coating plant, ensuring strict adherence to procedures and treatment recipes for efficient, consistent output.
- Monitor production yields and conduct sampling to comply with stringent quality benchmarks.
- Lead training and promote adoption of best practices to elevate team performance and capability.
- Identify and resolve machinery and operational challenges promptly.
- Maintain a safe, clean workplace environment aligning with safety standards.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience, with strong skills in supporting, coaching, and developing personnel.
- Experience or familiarity with seed processing and seed dressing is preferable but not mandatory.
- Mechanical aptitude, including experience operating or maintaining machinery; farming knowledge is beneficial but optional.
- Experience in delivering training and coaching to team members is advantageous.
- Possession of a Forklift Certificate is compulsory; training will be made available if needed.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
