Role Overview
The Equity Options team is seeking a Trading Systems Engineer to deliver high-performance, mission-critical support for proprietary trading systems. Responsibilities include maintaining a robust trading infrastructure and offering hands-on technical support on-site. The role encompasses collaborating with traders, researchers, and developers on long-term engineering projects to optimize trading profitability by contributing scalable, efficient, and clean systems as well as streamlined workflows. Coordination with operations, business, infrastructure teams, and external partners such as exchanges and brokers is essential to maintain a stable and efficient trading environment for options strategies.
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to build top-tier production support, software deployment, configuration processes, and proactive monitoring aimed at preempting issues, reducing downtime, and rapid incident recovery.
- Develop or maintain proprietary automation and monitoring tools while effectively leveraging third-party technologies.
- Resolve trading system incidents caused by internal or external factors promptly, often under time-sensitive conditions.
- Understand option trading dynamics within the APAC region to effectively support trading operations.
- Work closely with European and US option trading teams to share best practices and ensure consistent 24x7 support.
- Gain insight into exchange data center layouts and hardware infrastructure to optimize configurations and setup.
Qualifications & Skills
- 1 to 3 years of experience in trade support, site reliability engineering, or a related technical field.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline, preferably computer engineering or related areas.
- Fundamental networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network diagnostic tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges under pressure.
- Effective communication skills across diverse audiences, both written and verbal.
- Capability to perform well in high-stress environments collaborating with traders, developers, and engineering teams.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Experience in database management including SQL, NoSQL, and Postgres.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation purposes.
- Understanding and experience with distributed systems.
- Knowledge of modern DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience using or developing RESTful web services.
- Exposure to web development technologies including JavaScript frameworks like React.js or Vue and CSS3.
